Free holidays to Norway

Tuesday, 26 Sep 2006 14:24
Free breaks are being given away by ferry and cruise operator DFDS to launch their new route from Newcastle to the Norwegian city Bergen.

The free three-night city cruise breaks will be available to the first 250 holidaymakers booking online starting from today.

In addition DFDS Seaways announced it is also going to make 2,000 short breaks available for £50. The breaks normally start from £65.

"This is the first time we have offered a route direct to Bergen as we know that people in the UK have a strong interest in Norway," said John Crummie, of DFDS Seaways.

Cruises leave twice a week onboard the company's newly refurbished holiday liner, which has three restaurants, shops, four bars, a disco, a swimming pool and a sauna.

Though Bergen is Norway's second biggest city, it is still relatively small. Visitor attractions include an old town dating back to 1070, scenic wharfs, castles, and easy access to the country's picturesque fjords.
