New yacht adventures launched in Iceland

Thrill-seeking holidaymakers with a no fears of the cold will be pleased to learn of a new company offering yacht-based adventures in Iceland.
The holidays, launched by two Icelandic entrepreneurs with a passion for yachts, will take visitors to the remote west fjords in the north-west of the of island.
On board Iceland's biggest sailing vessel, Borea Adventures' expeditions will explore the unspoilt, difficult to access coastline, taking in glacial fjords, wildlife on the 60-foot yacht.
Itineraries on offer between April and the end of September 2007 include skiing in glacial fjords, hiking, sailing, sea kayaking, snorkelling, mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, gourmet food and for football fans bog soccer.
Wildlife, photography and gourmet trips are accompanied by local experts, and natural phenomena such as the midnight sun or the northern lights may also be visible on the trips.
The west fjords wilderness contains the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, which is home to arctic foxes, seals, razorbills and puffins, as well as the occasional whale and eagle.
The yacht being used for the trips was formerly the Antiope Clipper, which circumnavigated the globe four-times helmed by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.
Packages include airport transfers from Isafjordur, food and drink on board and during hikes ashore, participation in all activities described in itineraries and use of bad weather sailing outer garments.
Prices start from €825 (around £557) per person and tours accommodate up to ten guests.
