Bjork stars in free Iceland eco-concert

Friday, 13 Jun 2008 17:57
Bjork and Sigur Rós, two of Iceland's biggest stars are to perform at a free outdoor concert in Reykjavik on June 28th 2008.

The concert in the Laugardalur recreation grounds is aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues in Iceland.

"Too often, battles being fought for nature turn into something negative and into mudslinging," commented Bjork.

"We will not go that way, we are not saying that this and that is forbidden, we are rather asking 'what about all these other possibilities?'", she added.

There are rumours that a high-profile British band will also perform at the concert.

Airline Iceland Express is coming to the party with reduced fares available on departures between June 25th and July 2nd from London Stansted airport to Keflavik airport in the Icelandic capital.

See the Iceland Express website for more information and booking.
