Family holidays in Port Bourgenay

Watersports at Port Bourgenay, France
Finding an active family holiday, which offers adventures for kids of all ages as well as sports and activities for adults can be tricky – and prove very expensive.

So when it comes to getting the most facilities in one place at an affordable price, the Port Bourgenay Holiday Village in France is hard to beat.

Les Sables-d'Olonne

Situated in the Vendee region, nine kilometres south of Les Sables-d'Olonne, the 90-hectare car-free village offers numerous sports and activities, ranging from a glorious 18-hole golf course, an aquatic centre with three swimming pools, a central lake and plenty of beach-side action.

On the water

At the nearby Veillon beach, accessible on foot or by mini train, holidaymakers will find a range of watersports such as surfing, wind surfing and waterskiing. There’s also a sailing school at both Port Bourgenay and nearby Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, and guests can try your hand at sand-yachting at Port Bourgenay, too.

Sea catamarans are available for hire and diving courses for beginners can be booked upon arrival. At the village, you can also learn to sail Optimists on the lake and enjoy the three swimming pools and Aqua gym.

Ball play

Port Bourgenay holiday village is home to six tennis courts and visitors can also polish their serve and back hand by taking a tennis course. Lessons and courses cater for beginners to serious tennis players who want to hone their skills.

Whether players in it to win or just have fun, there's also table tennis, beach volleyball and for messier thrills, there are regular paint-balling sessions and competitions.

Fencing and freewheeling

To get the adrenalin pumping, take up a sword. Fencing classes held at the village are among the more unusual sports that are proving a hit with guests looking for something a little different. Guests can also explore the village and surrounding area on bikes – there are plenty available for hire - or go rollerblading around the resort.

In full swing

Port Bourgenay is proving increasingly popular with golf fans who want to ensure they get their fix while on a family holiday. The facilities are impressive, with Port Bourgenay Golf Club featuring an 18-hole golf course, (par 72 at 5,900 metres), designed by Thévenin and 35-bay practice area including ten covered bays.

There’s also an 18-hole Pitch and Putt course, a putting green and Club House with its own bar and pro shop. Guests who book with PV-Holidays will also enjoy ten per cent off green fees for 18-holes.

Just for kids

There are five kids clubs at the village, which cater for babies from three months of age to sports-mad teenagers up to 18-years. Each club has activities tailored to its age group from games and puppet shows for little ones to sports competitions, adventure trails and tennis tournaments for older children.

In addition to two children's playgrounds and two children's swimming pools in the village, the star attractions are the onsite circus school. Here, kids can learn trampolining, master the flying trapeze and try their hand a magic tricks.

Self-catering in style

The 614 apartments and 78 houses offered at Le Port du Bourgenay are attractively arranged into five areas. The Quartier du Lac is at the heart of the village, close to the shops and entertainment and the main reception area; the Quartier du Golf overlooks the golfing greens and lakes, and the Bocage is a peaceful area, with views over the golf course and surrounding countryside and its own shared swimming pool.

Les Portes de l’Océan is closest to the beach while the Quartier du Domain du Moulin is a spacious new area of houses built as an extension of the village with its own shared swimming pool.

All apartments and houses have fully equipped kitchens, televisions and a garden terrace or balcony area. And for evenings when nobody wants to cook, there's also a lively pizzeria, bar, and crêperie onsite.

PV-Holidays is offering seven nights from just €264 (£246) per person from April 26th to May 3rd 2009.

Guests can also save up to 25 per cent from a holiday at Port Bourgenay when reserving two consecutive weeks or save 15 per cent when you reserve 90 days in advance.
