Winter sun fun in Trinidad
Tuesday, 11 Dec 2007 10:17
Carnivals, wildlife watching, races and game fishing events will be taking place on the Caribbean islands of Trinidad & Tobago this winter sun season.
From February 4th - 5th 2008 the Trinidad Carnival will take over the island's streets, with colourful floats, calypso music and steel pans.
For an experience of the altogether quieter kind, holidaymakers can visit the islands during the leatherback turtle season, which starts in March 2008. The animals make their way onto beaches to mate and nest, and if you are lucky you may even be able to see the hatchlings emerge and make their way back to the water.
Holidaymakers who will be in Tobago at Easter will have a chance to see the island's eccentric side when goat, donkey and crab races are held. The event takes place on March 24th 2008 (Easter Monday), and holidaymakers should note whether crabs win or lose they all suffer the same fate - being turned into lunch.
