Only an hour from Melbourne, the
Healesville Sanctuary is a fabulous place to get up close to many of Australia's unique wild animals and birds.
Founded in 1921, the Sanctuary remains at the forefront of wildlife protection and sustainable ecological tourism.
It features over 200 species of Australian wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas, Tasmanian devils and birds of prey.
There are many events and attractions at Healesville, including meet the keeper sessions, the animal health centre and the ever-popular birds of prey presentation, which takes place every day.
This is an exciting display of free flying by kites, owls, falcons and the great wedge-tailed eagle.
