Ray Mears goes walkabout in Australia

Wednesday, 21 May 2008 15:20
British TV survival icon Ray Mears is exploring the Australian wilderness in his latest BBC series, screening from this Sunday (May 25th).

In Ray Mears Goes Walkabout, the legendary survival expert will embark on a camping safari in the Australian Outback.

He will be tracing the path of John McDouall Stuart - the first European to cross the vast continent from south to north and back again.

On BBC2 this Sunday at 20:15 GMT, Mears' desert journey will begin as he investigates the rich indigenous culture of the Outback and employs his trademark survival knowledge and wilderness tips.

Australia's Northern Territory is a leading nature and culture destination as well as being home to the country's most dramatic, beautiful and varied scenery.

The series will cover Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon in the red centre, as well as the adventure and wildlife destinations of Katherine gorge and Kakadu national park.
