Air connections between Thailand and Australia and within Australia are to improve thanks to a new deal signed by Virgin Blue and Thai Airways yesterday.
The interline agreement will see the two carriers provide a seamless service for international travellers flying between Australia and Thai destinations Bangkok and Phuket.
New Australian destinations connecting with Thailand will include 13 cities: Adelaide, Canberra, Broome, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maroochydore, Cairns, Townsville, Hobart, Launceston, Ballina, Coffs Harbour and the Gold Coast.
Flights will be available to these destinations via the Thai Airways international gateway ports of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
The interline deal is also set to significantly improve travel options within Australia.
Virgin Blue and Thai Airways have been working on their IT capabilities and interline e-ticketing will be possible across the two airlines.
Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey commented: "This will be a tremendous benefit to travellers and gives Virgin Blue a well-established partner airline to operate services to a new and hugely popular destination."
