Three men have been arrested in connection with the death of an Australian tourist in Goa, on India's east coast.
Following a reported brawl in a bar in the popular Calangute resort, two waiters and a security guard have been arrested in connection with the death of John Kelly, believed to be 65-years-of-age from West Australia.
Three alleged attackers - Manak Basak, aged 32, Jagat Pradhan, 23, and Jaykrishna Das, 25 - have been questioned as part of the murder investigation, following an altercation over the quality of service in the bar.
Following the incident Mr Kelly returned to his room in Candolim, five kilometres from the bar, where he is thought to have collapsed.
"We sent a beat constable to the spot after getting an information about the incident at 08:00," police inspector Tushar Vernekar, who is investigating the case, told the Times of India.
"By that time, John had already left.
"He was not traceable and we located him only at 1.30 pm, when we received wireless message from the hospital."
Mr Kelly was taken to the Goa Medical College in Bambolim after he was located by police.
A post-mortem was carried out and he was declared dead ten hours after the altercation. A post mortem examination report is being prepared.
