Rail and road links to north Vietnam reopened

Monday, 18 Aug 2008 16:20
Road and rail links to northern Vietnam, including the popular tourist hill-station of Sapa, have been restored following last week's severe flooding.

However, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) warns that travellers can still expect lengthy delays on journeys in the region.

The floods of August 8th caused significant damage to local infrastructure in the Lao Cai and Yen Dai provinces of Vietnam.

The FCO continues to advise holidaymakers to talk to tour operators and local authorities before travelling.
