Trains suspended in southern Thailand

Train services to southern Thailand have been suspended following further violence over the weekend.
On Saturday, insurgents boarded a Sungai Kolok-Yala train and killed four people after shooting at State Railway of Thailand (SRT) staff, it has been reported.
The Bangkok Post reports that the train driver had to crash through a barricade erected across the railway lines to take the remaining passengers to safety.
The SRT has suspended rail services to Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces and trains from Bangkok are now terminating in Songkhla's Hat Yai district.
A state of emergency continues in these provinces and martial law remains in place here, as well as in the Chana and Thapha districts of Songkhla province.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) warns that security authorities in this region "can detain suspects without charge, censor the media, conduct searches and seize documents".
The FCO advises against all but essential to, or through, these provinces due to almost daily attacks over the past few years.
