Photograph tigers in India
With the annual
Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition opening in London this week, holidaymakers may well be inspired to see some of the world's most incredible wildlife for themselves.
With this in mind travel search engine Kayak.co.uk has put together its top destinations for wildlife photography, ranging from mountains and forests to desert landscapes.
Go on safari in India
India's national parks are home to one of the rarest and most well-known wild animals on the planet - the tiger.
One of the best places to see the wild cats in their natural habitat is Ranthambhore National Park in India.
However, if you are not lucky enough to photograph the elusive creatures during a trip to the park, holidaymakers should head for waterholes where elephants and deer can be spotted.
For those looking for winter sun, flights from London are available from £453 with Jet Airways, leaving November 5th 2007, returning a week later.
For more information on visiting the park, as well as tours taking in nearby cities and tourist attractions, see
the Ranthambhore National Park website.
National parks in Costa Rica
South America's forests are some of the most richly populated by wildlife in the world, and
Braulio Carrillo National Park in Costa Rica is no exception.
Among the cloud forests in the park holidaymakers is La Selva - a biological research station used for research into the rain forest.
Holidaymakers will have a chance to photograph almost 450 bird species, and hundreds of different mammals, frogs and snakes. Accommodation is available in the research station - which includes one guided walk and three meals per day. There are also more private tours available including river boat excursions, birding trips, and photography workshops.
Flights are available from London for £366 with Virgin Atlantic, leaving Monday November 5th 2007, returning one week later. For more information on visiting the centre see
the La Selva website.
Desert trips in California
California is home to an abundance of wildlife, but one of the state's most dramatic landscapes and largest animal varieties is to be found in the Mojave Desert.
A trip to the Joshua Tree National Park is fantastic if you are looking to photograph birds of prey - there are vultures, falcons, hawks and kestrels. Other animals you can spot in the park include lizards, ground squirrels, snakes, coyotes, bighorn sheep, kangaroo rats, and black-tailed jack rabbits.
Flights from London are available from £329 with Northwest airlines, leaving Nov 4th, returning one week later. For more information on the visiting the park, see
the Joshua Tree National Park website.
