A portrait of India

Wednesday, 27 Aug 2008 15:27
Stunning photography and insightful text brings readers a visual guide to one of the world's most exciting countries in a new book about India.

Billed as a visual tour through India's diverse landscapes and rich history, 'India' by Phillip Wilkinson, will be released on September 1st 2008 by publishers Dorling Kindersley.

Celebrating 60 years as an independent sovereign nation last year, the country's booming economy has seen the eyes of the world on India and this glossy coffee table book seeks to present both an authoritative and thought-provoking picture.

Different sections explore the landscapes, history, people, culture, beliefs, arts, architecture and literature of India - both ancient and modern.

The section on people is particularly striking, with photographs of people from all walks of life, including photographic interviews.

And for travellers, India's top attractions are covered - from buzzing cities to ancient temples to wildlife sanctuaries.

The book features more than 700 specially commissioned photographs taken by world-class photographers.

This is a revealing portrait of a great and colourful nation.
