Air transport links have been restored at both Chengdu and Chongqing airports but the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) continues to warn against all but essential travel to Sichuan province.
Following the devastating earthquake on May 12th 2008 the FCO reports there have been over 32,500 confirmed fatalities, although the final death toll is likely to be much higher.
Although the airports are reported to be operating normally the FCO notes there has been significant damage to Sichuan's infrastructure.
The earthquake measured 7.9 on the Richter scale and had its epicentre 92 kilometres northwest of Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan.
The region remains on the alert for aftershocks in this active seismic zone.
In other China news, the situation in Tibet remains tense with the Chinese authorities continuing to deny permission to travel there.
