Fans of wildlife documentaries such as the BBC's
Planet Earth and
The Blue Planet now have even more options when it comes to seeing animals in the wild.
For 2007-08 the travel wing of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS), Out of the Blue, has added new destinations in the Arctic and Antarctic.
Holidaymakers will be able to visit the narwhal whale of the High Arctic region, and see fin and humpback whales in Antarctica.
"These new trips aim to introduce people to these remarkable animals in their unique natural environment. The chance to see the narwhal is particularly special – this little known species is under threat and populations are critically endangered," said Rob Lott, manager of Out of the Blue.
He added: "We hope that our trips will further reinforce how important it is to protect these animals for generations to come."
Also new for 2007 is a photography holiday to Gairloch on the west coast of Scotland run by WDCS field officer and award-winning photographer, Charlie Phillips.
Prices for Out of the Blue holidays start from £399 per person, with all profits going into supporting research, education and campaigns to help protect whales and dolphins.
