A new range of holidays in South Africa have been developed for the holidaymaker who wants to take a trip on the wild side while enjoying the more laid back pleasures of golf.

Visitors to South Africa can now take advantage of a golf safari, which takes them through a national park, visiting numerous golf clubs for a round on the way.

Ideal for the golf and animal lover, or the golfing-mad dad who also has a family of non-golfers to consider, the Out of Africa Travel and Golf Tours combine golf drives with game drives.

The Kruger Golf Itinerary starts at the north end of the Kruger national park at the Hans Merensky Club and finishes in the south with a round at the exclusive Leopard Creek Golf Club.

On the way all manner of wild life can be observed, none more so at the Skukuza Golf Club, unique in the fact that it is the only club actually in the national park.

At the nine-hole Skukuza, holidaymakers are as likely to see an antelope, warthog and hippo, as they are a birdie, eagle or albatross.

Lucy Kublikowski, managing director of Out of Africa, said: "It’s amazing how difficult the par three, ninth hole becomes when you know the lake you have to drive across is home to hippos!"

The 14-night itinerary features five rounds of golf and five nights' accommodation in luxury lodges in the Kruger National Park and a private game reserve.

Guests will enjoy five star safari hospitality with twice daily game drives to track down Africa’s Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhinos.
