Casablanca from Gatwick – new flights launched

New flights from London Gatwick to the Moroccan city of Casablanca have been launched by Royal Air Maroc.

The airline said the three new non-stop flights would expand its network by linking London to its hub in Casablanca, providing customers with increases connection opportunities between the UK and Morocco.

On flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays, with the new service becoming daily from summer 2010. It will be operated with Boeing 737-800 aircrafts, seating 16 passengers in business and 141 passengers in economy.

Royal Air Maroc now has 19 weekly connections to more than five cities in Morocco, and 11 weekly connections to seven cities in Africa.

These new flights from London Gatwick add to Royal Air Maroc's existing daily flights from Heathrow, brining their total number of weekly direct flights from London to Morocco to 17, including ten flights to Casablanca, five flights to Marrakech, and two flights to Tangiers.

A Royal Air Maroc spokesperson said: "Once in Casablanca, holidaymakers and city trippers will find that a dynamic coastal destination awaits. A great base to discover some of the countries most attractive ports and a departure point of the famous imperial cities tour.

"Casablanca is also well situated to explore Ben Slimane – the place to visit for more rural pursuits and the renowned Boulaouane vineyards to the south which produce the celebrated rosé wine.

"In this economic climate Morocco offers a real opportunity to UK travellers looking for an authentic cultural experience combined with the usual holiday benefits, whether it be stimulating activities or relaxing beaches - all under year-round sunshine."
