Many of the USA's states could individually be considered as a top active holiday destination, with California, Florida, Colorado and Arizona leading the way.
Natural wonders in these states include Lake Tahoe, Marin County and Yosemite Valley in northern California, the ski resort of Aspen in Colorado, and the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.
A trip touring the USA's west coast gives the active holidaymaker some excellent opportunities for surfing, sailing, mountain biking and trekking, in Oregon and Washington, as well as California.
However, the east coast's diving and wildlife are also ideal for active holidays, with Florida's lengthy coastline, the Florida Keys and the Everglades National Park (the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States) making it one of the top places to visit.
