Active holidays in Australia

Bondi beach, Australia
From its islands to the outback to the coasts, Australia is renowned as a place where you can get active.
Home to some of the world's most successful athletes, the country is a great destination for an active holiday whether you want to play tennis, surf, go walking, scuba diving, cycling or sailing.
A vast country, the kind of activities available to you vary depending on which state you are in.
If you are looking for a walking holiday there are some exciting and varied routes in Tazmania, where national parks and the wild mountainous landscape of Cradle Mountain can be explored. The island is also a good place to visit for caving, diving, fishing, cycling, horse riding, kayaking, climbing, abseiling, surfing and sailing.
On the mainland, the state of Western Australia has an Indian Ocean coastline where holidaymakers can go snorkelling and scuba diving, surfing, fishing, rafting and canoeing.
One of the most popular ways of experiencing the country is by travelling up the coast from Sydney to Cairns, taking in New South Wales and Queensland.
Active holiday options on the way vary from walking holidays in the several national parks, from dried out lakes at Mungo National Park in the New South Wales outback to tropical forests with waterfalls Mount Tamborine in Queensland.
If you can stand the heat, the World Heritage National Parks of Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta (including Ayers Rock) in the Northern Territory are also popular places to visit for their unusual rock formations and Aboriginal history and art.
