Enjoy explosive firework displays this November 5th

Remember, remember the fifth of November...

It’s time to warm yourself by a roaring bonfire, enjoy explosive firework displays and have fun waving around sizzling sparklers – all in the name of the downfall of the 17th century traitor Guy Fawkes who tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.

Here’s our pick of the best Bonfire Nights and Firework displays in the UK:

Firework Spectacular at Leeds Castle, Kent: November 3rd – 4th
Bring the family on November 3rd – 4th to watch ‘spooktacular’ fireworks above the magnificent Leeds Castle. Set to Halloween themed music, this year’s display will include well known songs such as Thriller and Ghostbusters. The fireworks will be let off from floating pontoons on the moat and create beautiful reflections in the water surrounding the historic castle. There will also be a colourful light show projected on to the castle walls to bring the music to life.  Tickets cost £18 for adults; £10 for children; under 4s go free.

Kaboom, Rawcliffe Country Park, York: November 4th
Head to York to experience Bonfire Night where it all began. York is the birthplace of the infamous Guy Fawkes and 2012 will see the launch of Kaboom Firework Festival, a new annual event to mark the failed gunpowder plot. Held at Rawcliffe Country Park, it promises an awesome pyrotechnic display by one of the world’s best pyro-technicians – Jitu Desai. The evening will also feature family friendly entertainment including a huge funfair, food concessions and a programme of live entertainment running throughout.

Battersea Park Fireworks, London: November 3rd
Created by the award-winning pyro-technicians Pains Fireworks, the team behind the Thames Festival, Battersea Park Fireworks promises to be more explosive than ever. With the theme ‘London Celebrates’, Bonfire Night enthusiasts will also be treated to fire acts, traditional entertainment and plenty of treats, including toffee apples and roasted chestnuts. Tickets cost £8 if bought before November 2nd; £10 after; Children under 10 go free.

Blists Hill Victorian Town, Shropshire: November 3rd
Step back in time at Blists Hill Victorian Town for a spectacular family fireworks extravaganza on November 3rd. Wander the streets as they would have been in the 19th century and chat to the ‘resident’ Victorians, dressed in the costume of the day, who will answer questions about life in the late 1800s. This year’s fireworks extravaganza will be best viewed from the Village Green; as always there will be a brilliant display over the Ironbridge Gorge starting at around 7.30pm, for all to enjoy. Tickets cost £9.50 for adults; £6.25 for children aged 3 - 15 years and £29 for a family (two adults and two children).

Poole Quay Fireworks, Dorset: November 5th
Poole celebrates November 5th with a fabulous free firework display over the second largest natural harbour in the world. The whole length of Poole Quay will be packed with street performers and live music, keeping the crowds entertained. Watch the waters light up in a myriad of colours at the largest free fireworks extravaganza on the south coast.
