Food festival in the East of England

In London it's the annual East festival and in the East of England it's all about fine food and drink.

Here's travelbite.co.uk's pick of what's on this weekend, March 6th and 7th around the United Kingdom:

East, London

East is a festival that celebrates the best of East London. It focuses on drawing together cultural and creative organisations across East London.

East 2010 will run from the 4th - 9th of March and explore the themes of architecture, the Asian subcontinent, minimalism and travel with over 100 specially curated events, world class artists, workshops and walks across the six days.

The Museum of London Docklands is hosting several events for the 2010 East festival, including a Docklands art and architecture walk, the photo loot and a stroll around the old Jewish East end.

AV Festival, NewcastleGateshead

Staged at various venues across NewcastleGateshead, Sunderland and Middlesbrough the AV Festival is the UK's largest international festival of electronic arts, featuring visual art, music and film.

From Friday 5th to Sunday 14th March, this award-winning festival is 10 days of energy. Bringing together culture, science, technology and the environment, the festival presents 20 exhibitions, 15 performances, 10 film screenings and special events at some of the North East's major cultural venues and landmark buildings.

From early morning until late into the night, leading artists from round the world explore energy and its ability to connect, transform, destroy and renew. The festival includes work made with live electricity, sparklers, giant light bulbs, underwater microphones, a church organ and levitating gold.

Feast East, Cambridgeshire

Feast East 2010 is the Eastern Region's regional food and drink festival and takes place from 4 - 6 March 2010. It is held at Chilford Hall, near Linton in south-east Cambridgeshire, close to the borders with Essex and Suffolk.

Now in its 16th year having first been held in 1994, Feast East 2010 will celebrate all that is best in the local food and drink world in our six counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

With over 5,000 visitors expected, it promises to be bigger and better than ever so join in for full on foodie fun and frolics!

Big Sky Beach Cross weekend, Margate, Kent

For family fun and high speed thrills on the Kentish coast this weekend head to see the UK's top quad and motocross riders send the sand flying at the Quad Racing Association's (QRA) Big Sky Beach Cross weekend in Margate, Kent on March 6 - 7.

The seaside town's main beach is the unique setting for this free two-day festival of action-packed racing and high-flying dune jumps that test the competition's junior and adult off-road riders. Last year more than 15,000 people lined the promenade to enjoy the race action.

A real family day out, Margate's seafront promenade offers a close up view, while away from the track spectators can enjoy plenty of traditional seaside entertainment, fair ground rides and the chance to meet the riders and the machines.
