Island Escape: will be showing World Cup matches during the summer

Island Cruises has become the latest cruise line to confirm that it will be showing live World Cup football during the summer.

England football fans can go ahead and book a cruise aboard the Island Star or Island Escape cruise ships safe in the knowledge that all of England's matches will be shown.

Island Cruises follows P&O Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL), which have already announced that passengers who are booking cruises aboard selected ships this summer will not have to miss out on the World Cup.

Island plans to show England's three first round matches versus Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago and Sweden, as well as England's second round match if they qualify, and all the quarter-finals, semi-finals, third place play-off and the final on July 9th 2006.

To celebrate the World Cup, Island has also introduced special offers including seven nights aboard the Island Escape from £649 - a saving of £250 - for departures on June 20th, and a saving of £320 on trips aboard the Island Star departing June 17th.

P&O was the first to announce plans to show World Cup matches at the beginning of February, and passengers will be able to watch England games aboard liners Arcadia, Oceana, Aurora, Oriana and Artemis.

P&O's head of brand marketing said: "The World Cup means a great deal to English sports fans and it is important that enthusiasts have every opportunity to support the team. We are delighted that we're able to show these matches live on board our ships, giving passengers and crew the chance to catch all of the action."

NCL will be showing the World Cup aboard the Norwegian Jewel during her seven-night cruises around the western Mediterranean departing on June 11th, 18th, 25th and July 2nd and 9th.

NCL has also introduced an exclusive starting price to celebrate the World Cup of £1,966 for a family of four (two adults and two children) for the seven-night cruise in an Oceanview cabin with a balcony.
