The QE2 celebrates her 40th birthday next year
Cunard's cruise holidays for 2007 will include a special commemorative voyage for the Queen Elizabeth 2, the cruise line has revealed.
The QE2 celebrates her 40th birthday next year, and the event will be marked in September by an itinerary that includes Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Liverpool.
This itinerary is among the highlights of Cunard's cruise holidays for next year, which also include an expanded season of transatlantic sailing for the Queen Mary 2 and the highly anticipated debut of the Queen Victoria.
The Queen Mary 2 will be cementing her ties with New York with 22 six-day crossings between Southampton and the Big Apple between April and October, along with one seven-day crossing from Le Havre, France, and four eight-day crossings from Hamburg, Germany.
Cunard is also introducing a collection of six four-day Getaway voyages aboard the Queen Mary 2 with sailings from New York to Eleuthera, Bahamas, and back.
For the rest of the year the ship will be spending time on Caribbean voyages, and three European voyages.
The QE2, in addition to its commemorative voyage, will spend time in the waters of the Mediterranean and northern Europe on 19 cruises.
These vary from two-day getaways to Zeebruge and the 16-day Mediterranean Odyssey, where she will be calling at Malaga in Spain, Sicily in Italy, Crete and Athens in Greece, Marmaris in Turkey, Valletta in Malta and Gibraltar.
The end of 2007 will see the launch of the 90,000 tonne Queen Victoria, for which the maiden voyage – a Christmas markets tour of Europe departing on December 11th - is already sold out. The ship then heads to the Canary Islands via several cities in southern Europe.
