Trips to Legoland, Windsor are among those on offer
A UK tour operator has launched holidays specifically with grandparents and their grandchildren in mind.
More than 30 per cent of UK grandparents contribute financially towards holidays and school trips for their grandchildren, research by WA Shearings shows.
Many take their grandchildren away for a few days to allow mum and dad to spend some quality time together.
It is with this in mind that the coach tour operator has designed holidays for grandparents and their grandchildren to destinations such as Legoland and the London Eye.
"From our research there is obviously a clear need for a specially tailored product which caters for grandparents wanting to travel with their grandchildren," said WA Shearings' Karen Gee.
"Our figures show that today's grandparents are more involved with their grandchildren's upbringing than ever before providing much needed financial and emotional support."
There are currently three breaks to choose from.
The Lion King and London Eye break, available in July and August, includes two night accommodation, travel by coach and accommodation in a central London hotel for £159 for adults and £89 for children.
Alternatively, the two-night Legoland and London Eye break is available for £119 for adults and £69 for children.
One-night theatre breaks to shows including
The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Daddy Cool, Movin Out and Wicked, start at £99 for children and £119 for adults.
For those wishing to make their own travel arrangements, all three tours are also available as accommodation and entertainment-only packages.
