London is a top UK family holiday destination for this summer
The UK offers a huge range of destinations and events for families looking for a cheap holiday, from museums and festivals to parades and aquariums.
With this in mind, low-cost airline Easyjet has come up with its top cheap family holiday ideas for summer 2007, focusing on visiting London and Bristol.
You can entertain the children in London's South Bank area, which will boast a newly reopened Royal Festival Hall as well as theatrical productions, exhibitions, concerts, parades, and carnivals taking place from June to September between Lambeth Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.
Events to watch out for include the
Coin Street Festival from June 16th, which ends with the Lord Mayor's Thames Festival on September 15th and 16th.
Also in London will be the
Star Wars 30th anniversary party from July 13th to 15th. More of an exhibition than necessarily a party, the show at London's ExCel venue will have movie props and costumes, the chance meet the stars from the films live entertainment and interactive events.
Kids under eight go free to the event, with adult tickets costing £21.75, and tickets for children aged between eight and 12 costing £11.25.
Bristol
Bristol will be hosting a
Children's festival this August at Durdham Downs featuring theatre, puppetry, magic, story-telling, percussion, juggling and circus skills.
The event takes place from August 3rd to 6th and costs £7 for children over five, £5 for adults and under-fives, £2 for toddlers aged one and two, and is free for babies.
Not far from the city you could also visit the
Glastonbury Children's Festival from August 10th to 13th at Abbey Park, also run by the same charity Children's World.
Another family experience in Bristol this summer is
St Paul's Carnival - a Caribbean celebration featuring a street parade along with stalls selling international foods. There will also be live music, including a youth stage for the first time this year.
The carnival takes place on July 7th 2007, and will be celebrating its 40th anniversary.
