Fiji is a tropical holiday destination of choice for people from all over the world, including Australians, who certainly know a thing or two about beaches.
Perhaps it is the intoxicating blend of cultures, the mix of the Polynesian, Micronesian, Indian, Chinese and European influences, or the great coral reefs and clear blue waters, but something keeps bringing people back to the many islands of Fiji.
There are many beachside resorts for holidaymakers to put themselves up in on Fiji, including the newly renovated Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa just off the main island of Viti Levu.
Formerly known as the Sheraton Royal Denarau Resort, which opened in 1974, the resort has not only had a name change, but has also undergone a AU$15 million renovation to its 271 guestrooms, restaurants, a two-tiered beachfront pool and the largest spa in Fiji.
There are several restaurants and bars in the resort, as well as an 18 hole golf course and sports club for tennis enthusiasts.
The resort is spread across 30 acres of Denarau island, which in turn is connected to mainland Fiji by causeway.
While the resort on Denarau represents the top-end of luxury and spending during a stay in Fiji, there are other, more economical options for those enjoying a break on the tropical islands.
One such place is Mango Bay, located at Namatakula, between Korolevu and Pacific Harbour. Ideal for the younger crowd, the resort offers a wealth of activities, boasts its own lagoon pool, bar, nightclub and outdoor cinema.
It is ideally located for those who want to go snorkelling and scuba diving, and is worth considering if you fancy an activity-filled holiday that will not break the bank.
