Admiring the view won't be interrupted by a mobile phone ringing
An adventure holiday specialist has banned mobile phones from some of its trips abroad.
The Adventure Company says it is responding to customer demand by launching the first 'mobile phone free' holidays.
The move will guarantee customers peace and quiet for the entire trip and ensure that having scaled a mountain to admire breathtaking views, the peace is not shattered by the sound of a mobile ring tone.
"People are fed up with mobile phones ringing around them when they are on holiday," says Mark Wright, managing director of the Adventure Company.
"They are also increasingly frustrated that, by carrying a mobile phone, they can be reached by anyone back at the office."
The first mobile phone free trip will depart to the Indian Himalayas in May next year.
Customers will be required to hand in their mobile phone at the beginning of the trip and it will be returned at the end. Group leaders will, however, continue to carry mobile phones in case of emergencies.
Further mobile phone free trips are planned for Morroco, Iceland and Peru.
