men.style.com has identified the world's most stylish resorts
A six-room retreat in a remote setting on the edge of a cinnamon plantation has been named as the world's most stylish new destination.
Lunuganga, Sri Lanka, the former home of architect Geoffrey Bawa and its carefully crafted gardens, is the top choice of the editors of men.style.com - the online home of
GQ magazine.
A stay at the resort, which was rated against its design, aesthetics and proximity to trendy restaurants, shops and must-see sites, costs a little over £110 per night.
Next up is Whitepod 'Mobile' Ski Camp. Five fabric covered domes – essentially hi-tech tents - with wood-burning stoves and organic bedding form the camp in the Swiss Alps near Val d'Illiez.
For £90 per person per night, a stay at Whitepod 'Mobile' Ski Camp offers an interesting alternative to traditional ski chalet accommodation.
Third on the list is the Hotel Valley Ho in Scotsdale, Arizona. A former hang-out for Marilyn Monroe and where Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood were married, the hotel has been restored as a retro-chic resort where prices start at £160 per night.
The Argentine Andes are the destination for the world's fourth most stylish resort. Llao Llao Hotel and Resort is located in Bariloche, while its rooms, starting from £175 per night, look out over Lake Moreno and Mount Tronador.
And completing the top five, the Adara Whistler Hotel, in the ski resort of Whistler, British Columbia, is a newly refurbished hotel with features such as high-speed internet access, docking stations for MP3 players and floating fireplaces. Prices start at £95 per night.
Tyler Thorenson, senior editor at men.style.com, said: "Our list is a compilation of the places stylish guys should be going this winter. Hotels have become the epicentre of cool in most cities and vacation spots, and all of these properties have a sense of style that's completely unique."
