New Orleans has started finding its feet as a holiday destination again, after Hurricane Katrina ravaged much of the Big Easy.
Much of the historic French quarter of New Orleans managed to survive the natural disaster relatively intact, with a massive clean-up operation helping bring about the rebirth of the city.
Travel information website Concierge.com recognised the hard-work and revival of New Orleans makes it a fascinating time to visit the city.
As such, it has launched an up-to-the-minute guide to New Orleans on its website, which has been detailing the preparations for its Mardi Gras on February 28th, which will mark the "official return" of city as a tourist destination.
Peter Frank, editor-in-chief of Concierge.com, said: "This is a historic time for New Orleans, one of America's most distinctive cities.
"Visiting New Orleans now is an opportunity to pay tribute to its people, and to witness the rebirth of a great American city. Our guide reflects the stories of the city and its people, while giving travellers the details they need."
The guide tells visitors where to go in New Orleans, where is still affected by Hurricane Katrina, top places to eating out, nightlife and where to stay.
However, New Orleans is not forgetting the troubles caused by the natural disaster, and visitors can take tours around areas badly hit by the hurricane, to gain a sense of perspective about what the city faced and where its revival has come from.
