Curiosity meets the unknown: one of the posters that will be attracting tourists to Canada
'Canada. Keep Exploring' is the message that will wow tourists to the country next year, according to the country's tourist commission.
Canadian officials want to showcase Canada as a destination to be experienced, rather than as a country known just for its picturesque scenery.
They want to inspire holidaymakers to create their own personal and unique adventures in Canada, that are different from the "canned" experiences offered by competing destinations.
It marks a move away from Canada's traditional image of "mountains, moose and Mounties".
The new image is based on the premise that there is an inner explorer in everyone, and as such the website
www.canadakeepexploring will include an interactive EQ (Explorer Quotient) tool that will allow each potential traveller to identify their 'explorer type'.
"Our new path to selling Canadian tourism focuses on creating an emotional bond between Canada and the rewards of travel by offering emotional explanations of experiences," said Canadian Tourism Commission chief Michele McKenzie.
She added: "Canada. Keep Exploring connects the curious traveller with everything that is inherently rewarding about a vacation in Canada – our stunning geography, diverse culture and progressive society – and attaches that to the idea of exploration, something fundamental to the joy of travel."
