P&O is launching short breaks to attract younger passengers
P&O Cruises has launched a series of short breaks to destinations such as Amsterdam and Lisbon.
The short breaks will provide travellers, particularly young people, with the chance to sample P&O's cruise holidays, without paying out for an extended cruise.
P&O says cruise breaks are different from a typical weekend city break because they eliminate the stress of the airport and unknown standards of accommodation.
Passengers will enjoy the same levels of service, entertainment, dining options and leisure facilities as those taking a longer voyage.
P&O's Philip Price said: "Many people are still curious about cruising and our range of cruise breaks gives them a chance to test the water, as well as providing the perfect way to experience an effortless break."
The cruise line's 2006
City and Short Breaks brochure includes breaks ranging from two to seven nights.
Bruges is the destination for a two-night party cruise on board Oceana, which departs Southampton on April 21st 2006. Prices start at £339 per person.
Longer breaks include seven nights on board Oriana, travelling to St Peter Port in Guernsey, Bruges and Amsterdam. Prices start at £739 per person, for a departure from Southampton on May 13th 2006.
The Norwegian fjords of Sognefjord and Nordfjord, along with the ports of Vik and Bergen, are among the destinations for another seven-night cruise break, with prices starting at £1,289 per person for a departure from Southampton on June 11th 2006.
Or you could spend seven nights cruising around the Iberian peninsula, with stops at Vigo, Lisbon, La Rochelle and Brest for £819 per person, departing Southampton on September 16th.
Mr Price added: "Today's younger, busy travellers are looking for value for time as well as value for money.
"When time is of the essence, it's vital to enjoy every second. Exploring new destinations time-effectively, having fun with holiday companions, indulging in spa treatments, and wining and dining are all high up on the holiday agenda."
