Norway is one of the most scenic and diverse places in the world to enjoy the great outdoors, and holidaymakers visiting the country for the first time can take a round tour to ensure they make the most of their visit.

With Fjord Norway, an official and very popular tour will take tourists around sights such as the Aurlandsfjord and the Flam Valley.

Much of the tour takes place by rail, meaning you can just sit back and take in the beautiful scenery.

You can depart from Bergen, meaning you get to travel on the highly-regarded Bergen Railway.

Travelling over northern Europe's biggest mountain plateau, holidaymakers will be rewarded with spectacular views of the icy blue Hardangerjøkul glacier.

Following this, the Flam railway will take you to Myrdal via the rugged Flam Valley, which is blessed with towering mountains and gushing waterfalls.

There are fjords aplenty on the next leg of the tour, which is by boat through beautiful villages and into Nærøyfjord. This World Heritage Site is regarded as one of the most dramatic fjords in Europe, and is well worth a visit.

After this comes the adrenaline-soaked trip up Stalheimskleiva road, with bends so devious that it is only open from May to September, when it is safe for tourists.

On the way there are a number of hotels for accommodation, which can be best taken advantage of with a money-saving Fjord Pass.
