Jet2 is starting flights to Rome
Low fares airline Jet2 has added Rome and Milan to its roster of cheap flights to Italy.
The airline today launched flights to Milan from Leeds Bradford and to Rome from both Leeds Bradford and Manchester airports.
Jet2, whose boss Philip Meeson recently courted controversy by calling striking French workers "lazy frogs", will take the number of Italian destinations it serves to four by starting flights to Pisa in May.
Mr Meeson's angry outburst came last week following delays to Jet2 flights caused by protesters sitting on a runway at Chambery airport.
He condemned the attitude of French air traffic controllers and called "for lazy frogs to get back to work".
Unsurprisingly, he was much kinder about the four Italian cities his airline will be serving.
"All four of our Italian destinations make excellent destinations, with Venice world-famous as the crumbling yet beguiling maze of canals, Rome the epicentre of Western European history, Milan the fashion, shopping and design capital of Italy and Pisa the gateway to the beautiful Tuscan countryside and nearby Florence," he said.
The first flights to Pisa will leave Manchester and Newcastle International airports on May 25th and from Leeds Bradford, Belfast International and Edinburgh airports on May 27th.
The airline's existing service to Venice from Leeds Bradford has also now resumed after the winter break.
