Some of Rome's most famous monuments are visited by the tour
Disciples of Dan Brown's best selling novel
Angels & Demons will be able to follow the 'Path of Illumination' with Crystal Cruises in Rome this summer.
The
Angels & Demons tour takes in some of Rome's most historic monuments, walking in the steps of the novel's main character professor Robert Langdon in the prelude to
The Da Vinci Code.
Crystal is offering the excursion as an extra to its Mediterranean cruise itinerary, which includes a stop-off in Rome.
The
Angels & Demons tour showcases the four symbols along the 'Path of Illumination' starting with 'earth' at the Chigi Chapel where "Habakkuk and the Angel" point the way down the path towards 'air' – the 'west wind medallion' in St Peter's Square.
The tour moves onto the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria and the statue of the 'Ecstasy of St. Teresa' for 'fire' and then to the 'Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi' (Fountain of the Four Rivers), in Rome's Piazza Navona.
Other stop-offs on the tour include the Spanish Steps and the Church of St Ignatius, the Pantheon, Rome's best-preserved ancient temple, St Peter's Basilica and the many Egyptian obelisks displayed throughout the city.
"With the motion picture release of
The Da Vinci Code just two months away, interest in Dan Brown's novels is at an all-time high," said Crystal Cruises' John Stoll.
"From the Sistine Chapel to the Castle St Angelo, the
Angels & Demons tour offers a topical look at some of Rome's most historic, artistic and architecturally significant monuments and churches - all with a dash of religious and scientific intrigue."
To further capitalise on the buzz surrounding
The Da Vinci Code, Crystal is also welcoming author Bulent Atalay aboard two Mediterranean cruises to discuss his book
Math and the Mona Lisa.
He will lecture on the unity of art and science in all of Leonardo Da Vinci's works including
The Last Supper and
Mona Lisa.
