Dublin launches podcast city guides

Dublin Castle: visitors can now be guided by podcast
Dublin's tourist authority has launched an innovative series of podcasts, which provide an audio guide to the city.

Visitors simply download the podcasts – or 'iWalks' – from Dublin Tourism's website onto an iPod or MP3 player.

The first two in a series of 12 podcasts narrated by Irish historian and artist Pat Liddy – 'Georgian Dublin' and 'The Historic Northside' – are now available.

The podcasts carry an advantage over traditional guidebooks because they are free to download, and are tailored to the visitor's interests such as literary Dublin or Georgian Dublin.

The podcasts are accompanied by a brochure and map in pdf format that can also be downloaded from the website or picked up in any tourist office in Dublin.

Forthcoming podcasts will cover themes including Viking and medieval Dublin, castles and cathedrals, Temple Bar to the Docklands and the Rock 'n' Stroll Trail.
