Hallgrims Church, Reykjavik, Iceland
A UK charity is looking for dynamic, adventurous types to take part in an activity holiday, trekking around Iceland.
The Icecap Trek, organised by the British Lung Foundation, starts in Reykjavik and heads through the volcanically active Mount Hekla to Landmannalaugar.
The trek then heads south through the mountains to the permanent icecaps of Myrdals and Eyjafjalla before returning to the capital Reykjavik.
Trekkers can expect to see a dramatic volcanic landscape littered with glaciers, geysers and waterfalls, while at Landmannalaugar hot and cold springs have combined to create a warm bathing brook.
Those who fancy the challenge of an activity holiday in Iceland have to reserve a place for £299 and then raise a minimum of £2,500.
The Iceland Icecap Trek is one of a number of activity holidays organised by the British Lung Foundation (BLF).
Treks in Peru, Morocco, China, New Zealand and Jordan, as well as bike rides closer to home – Lands End to John O'Groats and London to Paris – are also on offer.
