The World Cup has increased Germany's attractiveness as a tourist destination
The World Cup may be over, but Germany is hoping its new-found popularity will boost its tourist industry for years to come.
The host country's decision to invite fans from all over the world to come and party, whether they had tickets for games or not, created a fantastic atmosphere in many German cities during the month-long tournament.
Pictures and TV footage of thousands of fans having a good time will lead to many people considering Germany as a holiday destination, who would not necessarily have done so before the World Cup.
England fans who travelled to Germany had a particularly good time. Dan Jackson, a sales manager at Exodus Travels in London said: "The hospitality we received from locals was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Everybody from hoteliers to barmen and shopkeepers, DB (Deutsche Bahn) staff were incredibly helpful and friendly."
In Berlin, the partying is set to continue with the start on Saturday July 15th of the 2006 Love Parade.
The techno music festival is making a comeback after a two-year absence under the motto 'The Love is Back'.
The Love Parade will feature international DJs and dancers from 17 countries on forty floats, turning Berlin into the world's biggest dance floor.
Alternatively, those who want to keep World Cup fever alive could head to Baden-Baden and the Black Forest where you can follow in the footsteps of England's footballers.
Stay in the elegant Schlosshotel Buhlerhohe and live like the WAGs by enjoying some designer shopping in Baden-Baden, or head out and explore the Black Forest.
Additionally, all 12 of the host cities will be offering guided stadium tours for those who want to relive the atmosphere and the passion of the games.
