Love in Germany
If you have not got round to booking a romantic break for Valentine's Day by now, all is not lost, as a number of romantic package holidays in Germany are being launched for spring.
It means that those in the dog house for not booking something special for February 14th can redeem themselves with a romantic break in six historic towns on the Rhine and Moselle.
Trier, Koblenz, Mainz, Worms, Speyer and Kaiserslautern in the south-western corner of Germany feature breath-taking palaces, reassuringly old streets and restaurants and grand cathedrals, all of which combine to create a romantic atmosphere.
In Koblenz, a Romance and Rivers package is available, which draws much of its character from its relationship with the Rhine and Moselle, as well as boasting the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
Visitors to Trier can take advantage of the Romance and History deal, in a town which was once known as the second Rome and has imperial baths to sensually relax in.
Kaiserslautern has Romance and Gardens, thanks to its rich forestry and famous Palatinate wines; while visitors to Speyeer can take advantage of the Romance and Emperor package, featuring its impressive royal and imperial cathedral.
The new city break packages have been launched by Romantic Cities in conjunction with Ryanair, which runs flights to Frankfurt Hahn airport.
