A winter self-catering holiday in the French Alps has just been announced by holiday operator Thomson.

The ski holiday offers a luxury mobile home in the popular family ski resort of Grand Bornand within the L’Escale holiday park.

The mobile homes have been specially designed to cope with winter conditions and have a covered outdoor decking area.

John Whitaker, Thomson Al Fresco managing director said: "This new winter programme is perfect for all the family and provides an ideal self-catering option at an affordable price.

"Ski holidays can be expensive especially when travelling with young children and extended family. Our luxury mobile homes provide the perfect home from home experience and are ideally located in the heart of a ski resort."

Le Grand Bornand is a charming village with 90km of piste and seven mountain restaurants.

Local winter activities include night skiing, ice skating, snow shoe walking, parascending and horse-drawn sled rides.

Resort facilities include a day nursery for children between the ages of three months to five years and a selection of lively bars, cafes and family friendly restaurants.

Le Grand-Bornand also has a farmer’s market that is held every Wednesday morning in the town centre.

Chinaillon, six km from Le Grand-Bornand village, is a more modern collection of hotels and restaurants than a traditional village. It also has access to the downhill slopes.

Thomson Al Fresco has luxury family mobile homes across Europe including France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Holland.

Originally designed by Linda Barker, all mobile homes have a fully furnished kitchen and dining area, bathroom and outdoor decking area complete with patio heater and private barbeque.

Prices for the Grand Bornand start from £413 for seven nights' self-catering departing on January 6th. This package includes a Dover to Calais ferry crossing and is based on two adults and two children sharing.

Lift passes start from £93 per adult (six-day local) and from £61 per child (six-day local). Adult ski hire starts from £60 for skis/sticks and boots (six days). Child prices start from £30 for skis, sticks and boots (six days).
