If you have always wanted experience the buzz of the Cannes Film Festival, one of the world's most glamorous events, then it is far from being out of reach.
With cheap flights available from eight different UK airports to nearby Nice and this year being the momentous 60th festival it is an ideal time to visit.
Held every May on the French Riviera, the festival screens hundreds of films from across the world, and is one of the most important events for directors, producers and agents to network their way to better deals.
Known for being the first place to see the year's most talked-about films, it is also an excellent place to spot celebrities making their way to gala screenings.
However, holidaymakers should note almost all of the screenings and tickets are reserved for the industry, except for the Cinéma de la Plage, an open cinema on the beach, which has some public tickets available via the tourist office.
During the festival the city would be ideal for day-trip or overnight stay, to get a sense of the buzz and the glamour, as well as enjoy eating out in the top class restaurants.
For local seafood you can head to the many restaurants around the Quai St Pierre and on the Rue Félix Faure and take in views of the port.
After that it you can take a wander around the city or the beach in the balmy night or relax with a cold drink at some late-night restaurants and bars. You never know who you might bump into...
The Cannes Film Festival 2007 runs from May 16th to 27th 2007 and is hosted by Diane Kruger.
