Ski holidays continue in Austria

Skiing is still popular in the spring
The passing of winter does not necessarily signal the passing of the ski season, which is still going strong in countries like Austria.
Many sports-enthusiasts who want a spring-time ski holiday head south when they fancy going on the piste, but there are plenty of options still available for ski breaks in Europe.
Temperatures are warmer in Austria, but there is still plenty of snow in resorts like Stubaier Gletscher, the country's largest glacier ski resort.
Slopes are not in short supply at the resort, with 110kms of downhill runs. It is also suited for families wanting to take a break in the sun and snow, with plenty of childcare facilities on hand if the parents want to take a break for some solo skiing. It was named in the top five ski resorts for families in the Falk Ski Atlas 2006.
There is a full programme of classes for skiers, including safety training and learning the sport of ice-climbing in the 20 foot high Gamsgarten tower.
Visitors between April 23rd and May 11th can bag a ski deal of four days of half-board in the four-star hotel in Neustift/Tyrol for £299 per person.
This includes a four-course set meal and apres-ski snack and three lunches at the restaurant Zur Goldenen Gams.
