Think the life of a film-star is out of reach? Well, think again, because travelbite.co.uk is today showing how you could follow in the footsteps of the stars, whatever your holiday budget.

First up, Rome.

An old favourite, but still a classic, Rome is the beautiful and evocative setting for the 1960s classic La Dolce Vita, where its most famous scene sees actress Anita Ekberg splashing about in the Trevi Fountain, one of the city's most iconic sights.

The Eternal City cannot fail to impress and excite with its history, beauty and hot shopping – with the city also home to the Colosseum, Pantheon, St Peter’s Square and Basilica, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, and the Spanish Steps.

Among the best places to stay is the four-star, contemporary-designed Hotel Capo d'Africa near the Colosseum. Housed within a 19th century town house, the property has a rooftop breakfast room and a comfortable bar for reflecting on the day's discoveries.

Deals covering a short city break in Rome are also provided by Sunvil.

Intrepid visitors can also follow in the wake of James Bond – taking a trip to Venice.

Featured in the dramatic climax to the most recent blockbuster, Casino Royale, film fans can see the spectacular scenery that - despite special effects' evidence to the contrary - is thankfully still standing!

Visitors will have the chance to discover the secret agent's celluloid haunts on a tour of this glorious water-side city, including St Mark's Square, the Grand Canal, Campo San Barnaba and Giudecca Island before settling down for a drink - maybe even a martini - at one of its many bars and restaurants.

This year, Kirker Holidays has a selection of luxury holidays and short breaks, weekend breaks, city breaks, cultural tours and music holidays in the city. Check out the website for more information.

Bertolucci's 1996 rites-of-passage romance Stealing Beauty is another classic.

The innocence and beauty of Liv Tyler's virginal teen, Lucy Harmon, is matched only by Tuscany's languorous, sprawling countryside.

Cypress tree avenues zigzag up dusty brown hills, leafy, lone farmhouses broil in balmy sun, truffles hide in woodland and olive groves climb up valleys.

In just such a serene setting is Villa Gonzola, near the towns of Chiusi and Montalcino – offered by Real Holidays.

A restored farmhouse sleeping up to ten, it comes with a pool, classic Tuscan decor and splendid isolation.

Or, if you loved the spectacular underwater scenery in The Big Blue, why not take a journey through Sudan's mythical waters - once frequented by Jacques Cousteau - on a sensational live-aboard trip.

Home to over 1,500 species of fish, turtle and shark, the coastal waters are situated in a quieter part of the Red Sea – with wreck dives around the World War II wreck the Umbria, close to Port Sudan, not to be missed.

Tours to the region are offered by Regal Dive.

If the thought of another British winter brings on a 'shiver me timbers' feeling, why not raid your treasure chest and head for an exotic holiday on the high seas on an island-hopping trip to the Windward Isles.

Swap swash-buckling for sunshine-filled days spent sailing between Antigua, St Vincent, the Grenadines, St Lucia, Guadeloupe, Dominica and Martinique on board a brand new Dehler 47 yacht.

And, if Johnny Depp - star of Pirates of the Caribbean as Captain Jack Sparrow - has inspired an appetite for nautical life, professional coaching with like-minded companions, Non-Stop Sail has just the deal.
