Holidaymakers who have ever fancied a life on the high-seas and following in the footsteps of Hollywood heartthrobs Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley can now do so in Dominica.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is scheduled for release in early July, and once film fans have caught the latest instalment of the swashbuckling Disney smash, they can take a holiday in the country where much of the movie was filmed.
The director of the new
Pirates of the Caribbean film, as well as its sequel which was filmed concurrently, decided that Dominica had the ideal natural assets to play as the backdrop to Johnny Depp's return as the roguish captain Jack Sparrow.
For six weeks Dominica was home for some of Hollywood's biggest names, as it was transformed into Cannibal Island, while local Carib Indians were drafted in to play a tribe who take Depp's character under their wing.
Holidaymakers keen to holiday where the stars were at work, can take guided hiking tours around sites where scenes for the movie were filmed, as well as visiting some of the attractions that the actors used to unwind.
Like Depp, Bloom and Knightley, tourists can enjoy the country's many waterfalls, scuba diving, horse riding and safaris, which will make one suspect that working on the film was no hardship.
To ensure you make the most of your time on a sunny piece of celluloid history, Caribbean & Sun has assembled a Cannibals & Film Pirates package, which offers eight nights in Dominica and six nights on Barbados.
Including tours of the sets and a special Carib Indian campfire night, prices start from £499 per person excluding flights.
