The Cayman Islands have launched a new visitors map and guide that showcase the islands' often undiscovered historic and natural attractions.

Holidays in the Cayman Islands are typically associated with relaxing on the beach or spending some time diving in its renowned dive sites.

But the new map and guide aim to show that there is more to the islands of Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

Attractions include the Fort George historic site, which was built by Caymanians to defend Grand Cayman from attacks by Spanish marauders from Cuba.

Nature lovers will enjoy a visit to Grand Cayman's central mangrove wetland reserve, a natural unspoilt ecosystem covering 1,500 acres, and Little Cayman's Booby Pond nature reserve, a land-locked saltwater lagoon with a colony of rare red-footed boobies.

Other attractions include the Ten Sails historic site and the parrot reserve on Cayman Brac.

The Cayman Island's tourism department is also launching an artist's trail map to provide visitors with a fun and culturally stimulating way of exploring the islands.

Shops, art galleries and artists' private studios are among the locations featured on the map.
