Catch a catamaran around Barbados
Life is a beach in Barbados, but new travel packages now give sun-seekers alternative ways of viewing this beautiful Caribbean island.
While many enjoy the tropical luxury of Barbadian resorts on the beach-side, looking out over the sea, tour operator Cool Runnings is providing tourists with the chance to see the island from the other side.
The operator offers five-hour cruises around the island, be it during the day-time or the evening, providing all the luxury one might expect from a resort, but on the open seas.
Once aboard you are greeted with complimentary soft drinks, coffee, or a rum punch and other alcoholic beverages to help you relax.
Lunch cruises include a home-made buffet lunch, ideal for those who have worked up an appetite snorkelling, feeding the sea turtles or just lazing on deck.
The gentle north-east trade winds will also take cruise-goers to explore a shallow shipwreck, feed schools of tropical fish and bathe and swim in a secluded cove.
For the romantics holidaying in Barbados, there is also a sunset cruise around the island, making for a spectacular vantage point as the sun sets over the tropical paradise.
As well as cuddling on deck while cradling a cocktail or two, night-swimmers can also take in some snorkelling in the calm, tranquil waters.
All cruises depart from Bridgetown, with transfers arranged between hotels. Day cruises start at around £40 per person, while sunset cruises will set you back around £30 per person.
Finally, if the idea of taking a cruise with other holidaymakers does not appeal, you can even make a private booking and charter one of Cool Runnings' catamarans yourself.
