Get active with pirate-inspired holidays in the Caribbean
If you have been inspired to see the last two films in the
Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and dream of taking to the seas, it may not be as much of a fantasy as you think.
Travel search engine Kayak.co.uk has come up with its top
Pirates of the Caribbean inspired holiday ideas in the destinations that inspired the films.
Jamaica
One of the most inspirational locations for the
Pirates of the Caribbean is Port Royal, in Kingston, Jamaica. Historically a pirate's hangout, the port was the centre of Jamaica's shipping trade in the 17th century, but following major earthquakes, a fire and a hurricane little of its former glory remains.
Historical places to see in the area include Gallows Point, and St Peter's Church, founded in 1671 and rebuilt in the 1700s.
If you want to get the pirate experience on the water then the popular tourist spot of Montego Bay is the place to go for the
Calico Pirates Cruise.

The Bahamas
Parts of the last two
Pirates of the Caribbean films were shot among the hundreds of islands that make up the Bahamas, and for good reason.
The Bahaman capital, Nassau, was home to the infamous pirates Calico Jack Rackham, Blackbeard, and the female pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read.
To find out more you could visit the Pirates of Nassau Museum or tour Fort Charlotte's underground passages, dungeons, and drawbridge.
Some of the islands and cays (also known as keys) still keep their pirate links, with boat trips available to Blackbeard's Cay, around 25 minutes from Nassau.
The island is ideal for an active day-trip doing some snorkelling, but if that proves too strenuous, you can relax with cocktails in the sunshine.
St Lucia
St Lucia is home to the
Brig Unicorn, an authentic 140-foot replica of the 18th century ship that was featured in
The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Family cruises on the ship include with pirate-themed dressing up, face painting and treasure hunts.
