Ecuador travel advice
Ecuador entry requirements
Citizens of most countries, including the United Kingdom, do not require a visa to visit Ecuador as a tourist for up to 90 days. Travellers must be able to show a passport that is valid for at least six months after arrival, as well as return or onward tickets and proof of funds to support yourself while in Ecuador.
Health in Ecuador
Tap water is unsafe to drink. Current inoculation requirements should be discussed with a GP.
Malaria and dengue fever are present in all the coastal and jungle areas of Ecuador, as well as the interior and in the highlands up to 2,000 metres. The Ecuadorian Health Minsitry recommends yellow fever vaccinations for all travellers to the provinces of Morono-Santiago, Napo, Orellana, Pastaza, Zamora-Chinchipe and SucumbĂos in the Amazon basin.
Travellers should not travel to Ecuador without comprehensive medical insurance as good medical treatment can be expensive and is not always available outside the main cities.
