Where to stay in Montreal

Advice on budget, affordable and luxury accommodation in Montreal.

Budget accommodation in Montreal

  • Sleep in the heart of Montreal at Hostel Chez Jean in the Plateau, one of the coolest areas in the city. It is next door to bars, restaurants and other cultural venues. There is a terrace for summer dining at the hostel, and you can unwind after a day out in Montreal in the hostel's jacuzzi.

  • Stay near the attractions of Chinatown, Lafontaine Park, downtown and the Village at Montreal Guest House in Amherst. A block of cosy apartments that are kitted out with shared kitchens and living quarters, the service is friendly and personal and ideal for families and couples.

    Affordable accommodation in Montreal

  • Arguably a leader of the pack in Montreal's mid-range hotel scene, the Auberge Bonaparte is immaculately done out, with all its facets slotting together nicely. The staff are incredibly helpful, and once you have settled in, you can admire the views of the city from its decked roof terrace.

  • Great value and grand designs await those who book a room at Le Square Phillips Hotel and Suites. The bedrooms are large and roomy, the ceilings expansive and high, while the cityscape views from the rooms' sundecks are sublime – though this is in part thanks to Montreal itself. It is close to good transport links and within walking distance of Old Montreal.

    Luxury accommodation in Montreal
  • In Montreal, those in the know stay at the Hotel Gault. Supremely comfortable beds, peaceful rooms with trendy, designer furnishings, great views of the city and staff who are affable and knowledgeable. The hotel's bar is also a cool place to hang out, though drinks can get a little pricey.

  • For a grand old time in Montreal, check out the grand old Le Saint Sulpice. The suites are huge and even have fireplaces, and comfort oozes from everywhere you look. A small but charming spa is there to relieve stress, though it is unlikely you will have any as the hotel is in such a peaceful part of the city.
