Where to stay in Amsterdam

Advice on budget, affordable and luxury accommodation in Amsterdam.

Budget accommodation in Amsterdam

  • Flying Pig has three well-located hostels: Downtown, Uptown and at the beach in Noordwijk. You can expect it to be a bit grungy but backpackers love the atmosphere with its lobby bar, DJs and chilled-out basement.

  • Aivengo Youth Hostel is a drug-free option that is friendly, clean and centrally located.

    Affordable accommodation in Amsterdam

  • For accommodation that offers something a little different, try the modern and very comfortable 175 room floating AmstelBotel, which is moored in the old NDSM wharf, a five minute walk from Centraal Station.

  • Hotel Brouwer on the Singel canal is in a beautiful 17th century house and each of the eight rooms are named for Dutch painters.

    Luxury accommodation in Amsterdam

  • The Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky gives guests a sense of old world luxury and occupies a prime situation on Amsterdam's Dam Square. From the front rooms there is a view of the Royal Palace and it has spectacular public spaces in which to see and be seen.

On the Southern canal belt, overlooking the Amstel River, the five-star Amstel Intercontinental Hotel is simply magnificent and its La Rive restaurant boasts two Michelin stars.
