Details of what's on in Stuttgart throughout the year

Festivals

It is not all beer, beer, beer in Germany, and Stuttgart is one of Germany's best wine-growing city's. Vine-lovers should head over to the city in late August, early September, for the Stuttgart Wine Festival. The fortnight-long fest sees the Old Palace surrounded by stands offering wine, draped in vines and sitting alongside stalls selling fine local foods, such as maultaschen ravioli.

But of course, Germany is indeed famous for its beer, something that is recognised at the Stuttgart Beer Festival, which is the second-largest in the country, hanging from the ale-soaked coattails of Munich's Oktoberfest. Every year at the end of September, thousands gather in traditional dress, with entertainment coming from oompah bands, fairground attractions and lots and lots of beer.
